The Hull Mold Assembled
I haven't written much in the past few months but that doesn't mean we haven't been busy. We now have completed about 25 of the molds and mold pieces. The hull mold has been assembled in our facility in LaConner and we are preparing for the layup. It is amazing how you can cut these large pieces (7 for the hull mold) separately and when you assemble them the seams match perfectly.
The mold will be polished, waxed and then the gelcoat will be applied. After the gelcoat has cured, there will be a "dry stack" of the various layers of fiberglass, Kevlar, and foam coring material. I will try and keep current on progress from here on out.

NW 42: Progress Report
Superstructure mold in process of being foamed.
This mold part is extremely large and is the most difficult to make. The programmers have spent many, many hours making sure that all the details have been modeled perfectly. The part will be moved into the Poseidon room next month to be cut.
